Stone Tabbed to Second Team of NABC All-District Squad for Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College senior forward Charles Stone (Hackensack, N.J.) has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III All-District team. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America. Stone was tabbed as a second team selection in the Northeast Region, honored as one of the top 88 Division III players in the nation.
One of the most prolific players to wear a Connecticut College uniform, Stone changed the direction of the program, leading the Camels to full a 12 game improvement in the standings from his freshman to senior year. He was recently honored as a first team selection on the All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men´s basketball team.
Stone ranks fourth on the Camel all-time scoring list with 1,380 points. He pulled down 719 rebounds while dishing out 276 assists in his storied career.
Connecticut College head coach Tom Satran was pleased with Stone´s performance in a 17 win season and pleased with the regional recognition from the NABC for his captain.
"This is another well deserved honor for Charles," Satran stated. "He had a great season and a great career and was instrumental in the resurgence of our program. He was a pleasure to coach and I look forward to many years of friendship with him."
Stone ranked near the top of the league in multiple statistical categories this season, averaging 14.6 points (sixth), 8.3 rebounds (third), and 5.2 assists (third) while hitting 55.4 percent of his shots (seventh). Stone averaged 1.36 blocks per game (third) and compiled a 1.76 assist/turnover ratio (eighth). Stone made an immediate impact on the program and was honored as the NESCAC co-Rookie of the Year in 2005. In his sophomore season, Stone shot an efficient 58% from the field, averaging 15.3 points and 8.2 boards per game as the Camels made a full eight game improvement from the previous season with a 13-11 record, qualifying for the NESCAC Championship Tournament. Stone contributed 15.5 points and 7.5 points per game in his junior season for the Camels.
Stone assists with Project KBA (Kids, Books, and Athletics), a grass roots program that promotes literacy and fitness in the New London School system. In his free time, Stone works as a volunteer at the Connecticut College Children´s Center.
Stone will receive his degree in human development this spring.
