Moryan and Troy Named NCAA Honorable Mention All-Americas

OXFORD, Ohio.--Connecticut College sophomore swimmers Grant Moryan (Westfield, N.J.) and Pat Troy (Bradford, N.H.) have been named NCAA Honorable Mention All-Americas for the second consecutive year. The talented tandem competed in the 2008 NCAA Championship hosted by Wooster College at Miami of Ohio this weekend. Moryan finished 15th in the 50 yard free with a time of 20.89 seconds and posted a time of 45.66 seconds to place 14th in the 100 yard freestyle. Troy was 11th in the 100 yard butterfly, recording a time of 49.76 seconds.
The Camels scored 11 points at the championship, tying Hamilton and Centre College for 40th place. In 2007, Moryan and Troy made history by becoming the first two Camel swimmers to qualify for nationals.
Under the direction of head coach Marc Benvenuti, the Camel swimming and diving programs have reached their pinnacle. The women´s team matched its highest finish at the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship in February, placing fourth with 831 points. The men finished fifth at the NESCAC Championship for the second consecutive year, tallying 832 points. Will Wakefield, a 2005 graduate of Kenyon College, is serving as Benvenuti´s lead assistant coach for the Camels this season.
