Greg Parker Named First-Team All-NESCAC for Camel Hockey

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College sophomore goalie Greg Parker of Trenton, Ontario has been named to the First Team of the 2008 All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men´s hockey squad.
Parker played an instrument role in the Camels´ late season surge, leading the team to a 6-2 record in the month of February. In his last seven games of the season, Parker stopped 204 of 218 shots (.936), compiling a 1.98 goals against average in between the pipes. Connecticut College finished fifth with a mark of 9-8-2 in league play, topping the .500 mark in the NESCAC standings for the first time in program history. Connecticut College head coach Jim Ward was pleased with the conference recognition for Parker and the entire Camel hockey program.
"Greg Parker´s play has been inspiring as he has the ability to give us the chance to be successful against any opponent on any given night," Ward stated. "His competitive nature, skill level and knowledge of the game have a positive impact on every member of our program and he is a significant reason for the success of our program over the past two seasons."
In 2007, Parker was honored as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year and was dually honored as a second team selection to the All-Conference squad. He led the NESCAC with a .922 save percentage and ranked third in the league with a 2.58 goals against average. The 2006-2007 Camels finished 10-13-2 and 9-9-1 in conference play, earning a playoff berth in the NESCAC Tournament for the first time.
Parker was a three-sport athlete at the Groton School in Groton, Mass., earning letters in soccer, hockey and lacrosse. He is pursuing his degree in economics and American Studies at Connecticut College.
