Charles Stone Named First Team All-NESCAC for Camels

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College senior forward Charles Stone (Hackensack, N.J.) has been honored as a first team selection on the All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men´s basketball team.
One of the most prolific players to wear a Connecticut College uniform, Stone changed the direction of the program, leading the Camels to full a 12 game improvement in the standings from his freshman to senior year.
Stone ranks fourth on the Camel all-time scoring list with 1,380 points. He pulled down 719 rebounds while dishing out 276 assists in his storied career.
Connecticut College head coach Tom Satran was pleased with Stone´s performance in a 17 win season and proud of the conference recognition for his captain.
"Charles has been everything to the resurgence of our program," Satran stated. "He led us in every category and was our emotional leader on and off the court. He has been a pleasure to coach and is a credit to our team and larger campus community."
Stone ranked near the top of the league in multiple statistical categories this season, averaging 14.6 points (fourth), 8.3 rebounds (third), and 5.2 assists (third) while hitting 55.4 percent of his shots (eighth). Stone averaged 1.36 blocks per game (third) and compiled a 1.76 assist/turnover ratio (seventh). Stone made an immediate impact on the program and was honored as the NESCAC co-Rookie of the Year in 2005. In his sophomore season, Stone shot an efficient 58% from the field, averaging 15.3 points and 8.2 boards per game as the Camels made a full eight game improvement from the previous season with a 13-11 record, qualifying for the NESCAC Championship Tournament. Stone contributed 15.5 points and 7.5 points per game in his junior season for the Camels.
Stone assists with Project KBA (Kids, Books, and Athletics), a grass roots program that promotes literacy and fitness in the New London School system. In his free time, Stone works as a volunteer at the Connecticut College Children´s Center.
Stone will receive his degree in human development this spring.
