2008 NESCAC Championship Tournament-First Round #4 Colby 3, #5 Connecticut College 1 Lindmark Tallies Goal for Camels

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Stephanie Scarpato (Osterville, Mass.) tallied two-goals Saturday, propelling Colby College (14-8-3) to a 3-1 victory against Connecticut College (7-14-4) in a first round match-up of the NESCAC Championship Tournament played at Alfond Rink Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Rachel Lindmark (Andover, Mass.) provided the offense for the Camels with an unassisted tally in the second period.
The Camels and Mules skated to two ties during the season and Saturday´s game followed the trend of the previous two meetings in the early going as the two sides skated to a scoreless first period of action.
The Mules got on the board early in the second period. Scarpato tallied a power-play goal at 3:21 of frame with Amanda Comeau (Southbury, Conn.) assisting on the score. Lindmark evened the game at one with 11:43 to play in the second, putting in her fourth goal of the season for the visitors. But the Mules regained their lead with 7:57 remaining in the second. Heather Nickerson (Falmouth, Mass.) provided an unassisted tally for Colby that would prove to be the game winner.
Scarpato added an insurance tally with 8:24 remaining in regulation and the hosts were able to advance with the 3-1 victory.
Lacey Brown (Freeport, Maine) had 22 saves for Colby. Sara Christopher (Andover, Mass.) stopped 26 shots for the Camels.
