Flynn, McManus & Parsons Sweep at Howe Cup

Laura Robertson ´08 Provded Some Clutch Play for the Camels at Princeton this Weekend

PRINCETON, N.J.-The Connecticut College women´s squash team posted a 1-2 record in the Epps Division of the Howe Cup at Princeton University this weekend. The Camels earned a 7-2 victory against Franklin & Marshall. Connecticut College dropped close 5-4 decisions to Wesleyan and Columbia University, completing their season with a 5-18 record. Head Coach Bill McNally was encouraged by his team´s resiliency and hard work during the 2007-2008 season.

"We had so many newcomers on this year´s the team and we always played positive, McNally stated. "It is very gratifying to see their overall improvement." The Camel trio of Cara Flynn (Haverford, Pa.), Ryan McManus (Marblehead, Mass.) and Chrissie Parsons (New Canaan, Conn.) were a perfect 3-0 at the top of the ladder and did not drop a game in the three matches. Cara Flynn ends the season with a 21-2 match record between the #1 and #2 positions. Ryan McManus kept her remarkable streak of 22-1 going with the loss of only four games, three in a loss to Bowdoin and one in a match with Tufts. McManus will travel with McNally to Annapolis, Maryland for the individual championships this weekend. Chrissie Parsons was an impressive 15-8, playing the majority of the matches at #1 on the ladder.

Senior Laura Robertson (South Dartmouth, Mass.) earned five set victories against Franklin & Marshall and Columbia.

"It was a great way for Laura to end her four year career with us," Each Camel registered at least one win over the weekend. McNally is looking ahead to the individual championship next weekend and will continue to build the program for the future with many of the younger players who gained experience in their first year of intercollegiate squash. "We appreciate the dedication and commitment of our parents who traveled with us and supported the program all season long. "
