Amherst 3, Connecticut College 1 Camels Post Highest Finish in Program History

Camels Post Highest Finish in Program History #5 Camels Will Visit #4 Colby for 1:00 p.m. Game Saturday Afternoon

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Michelle McGann (New Berlin, Wis.) tallied a goal and an assist, leading Amherst College (17-3-4, 12-0-4) to a 3-1 victory against Connecticut College (7-13-4, 5-8-3) in NESCAC women´s hockey action played at Dayton Arena Saturday night. Kourtney Brim (Shawnee, Kan.) accounted for the Camel offense with a power play goal in the second period. Sophomore defender Sarah Napoli (Barrington, R.I.) assisted on the tally.

Kristyn Elek (Summerville, S.C.) had 27 saves for the visitors. Sophomore Sara Christopher (Andover, Mass.) finished with 33 stops for the Camels.

Amherst has earned the #2 seed for the upcoming NESCAC Championship Tournament. The Lord Jeffs will host #7 Bowdoin next Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. game in Amherst. The Camels have earned the #5 seed and will visit #4 Colby College for a 1:00 p.m. match-up.

Trailing 1-0, the Camels applied pressure on Amherst in the second period, out-shooting the visitors by a count of 19-to-10. Brim supplied the equalizer with 7:48 remaining in the frame. Sarah Napoli dished out her sixth assist of the season on the score.

With 14:38 remaining in regulation, McGann tallied what would prove to be the game winner. Kristen Dier (Appleton, Wis.) assisted on the tally.

Lindsey Harrington (Westford, Mass.) added an insurance tally for Amherst with 1:59 remaining in regulation. The Lord Jeffs were able to hold on for the 3-1 victory.
