February 18, 2008

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--The Connecticut College men´s squash team traveled to Harvard University for the team nationals this weekend. The Camels went 2-1 at Cambridge, wrapping up the season with a 9-12 record. The Camels defeated Columbia University 7-2, dropped a 7-2 decision to George Washington University and concluded the weekend with a 5-4 triumph against Hobart.

Seniors Dan Bassett (Lincoln, Mass.), Wade Mynatt (Lake Forest, Ill.) and captain John Evans (Wyndmoor, Pa.) posted 2-1 records. Sophomore Will Moger (Bristol, R.I.) improved to 17-2 for the season between #4 and #5 on the ladder. Classmate Kevin Coscarelli (West Hartford, Conn.) is 15-6 between #6 and #7. Tyler Stilwell (McLean, Va.) went two for three on the weekend.

Connecticut College is ranked 26th out of the 51 colleges and universities that participated in the team Championships. Head coach Bill McNally was impressed with his team´s effort and is looking forward to the 2008-2009 season. McNally will be traveling with Rob Purple to compete at the individual championships at the end of the month in Annapolis.

"We are disappointed that we were not able to get to .500," McNally stated. "It happened in spite of the hard work and the commitment of the players. The growth of collegiate squash is just remarkable. Not only were there 51 teams participating but the skill levels and depths of the teams is much higher than even a year or two ago."

McNally is encouraged by the development and progression of the underclassmen and anticipates a bright future for the program.
