Connecticut College Department of Chemistry hosting series of spring seminars

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Connecticut College Department of Chemistry is hosting a series of seven seminars throughout the spring. All will be held in Brown Auditorium in Hale Laboratory at 4:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
The seminar schedule is as follows:
- Feb. 5, "Antibacterial Drug Discovery in the Post-Genomic Era," by Dr. Richard Miller, Pfizer Global Research and Development.
- Feb. 12, "Pioneering Biotechnology Applications with HORIBA Jobin Yvon Fluorescence Instrumentation: Steady State and Time-Resolved Methodologies," by Dr. Adam Gilmore, HORIBA Jobin Yvon Inc.
- March 4, "Understanding Synthesis, Characterization, and Applications of Transition Metal Containing Polymers," by Joshua Farrell, the Thomas D´Ambra Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the College of the Holy Cross.
- March 25, "It´s Easy Being Green: Fast, Easy, Clean Chemistry," by Nicholas Leadbeater, assistant professor of organic and inorganic chemistry at the University of Connecticut. This seminar is sponsored by Organic Syntheses Inc.
- April 1, "Trigonal Prismatic Tungsten Clusters: Atom-like Building Units of Adjustable Character," by Eric Welch ´01, postdoctoral research associate in chemistry at Princeton University.
- April 22, title TBA, by Kathy Parker, professor of organic chemistry at Stony Brook University. This seminar is sponsored by Organic Syntheses Inc.
- April 29, honors thesis presentations by Connecticut College chemistry students.
