Prism Trio to perform at Connecticut College Feb. 10

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Prism Trio, led by bassoonist Rebecca Noreen, Connecticut College adjunct professor of music, will perform Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. in Evans Hall at Connecticut College.

The ensemble, which also includes oboist Stephen Wade and clarinetist Jonathan Towne, will perform selections by several of the last century´s most distinguished French composers, including Darius Milhaud, Jacques Ibert, Georges Auric and Gabriel Pierne. The performance will also include selections by Polish-born French composer Alexandre Tansman, as well as some traditional Irish selections.

All three members of the Prism Trio are or have been members of the United States Coast Guard Band and are frequent participants in the United States Coast Guard Chamber Player´s Recital Series. They have performed extensively throughout Southern New England at a wide variety of weddings, ceremonies and church services. Recent appearances include performances at the All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church in New London, fireside Christmas concerts at the Seamen´s Inne in Mystic and fundraisers benefiting New London´s Adult and Continuing Education Program at the Wine Fest by the Sea at Ocean Beach. They have also performed French music for the students of Stonington Public Schools.
