Connecticut College´s Harkness Chapel hosts Christmas-themed vesper service on Dec. 12

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Connecticut College´s annual Christmas-themed vesper service, "The Service of Nine Lessons and Carols," will be held in the Harkness Chapel at Connecticut College at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12.

The service, a candlelight program of lessons and carols, has been a holiday tradition at Connecticut College since 1917. This year´s service will include performances by the Connecticut College Chamber Choir, the ConnChords and Williams Street Mix. Readings will be conducted by faculty, staff, students, the Rev. Laurence LaPointe, the Rev. Carolyn Patierno and the Rev. Lee Ireland.

The Service of Nine Lessons and Carols originated in England and traditionally consists of nine holiday lessons, followed by a carol.

Among the most selective private liberal arts colleges in the nation, Connecticut College enrolls 1,900 men and women from 41 states, the District of Columbia and 42 countries.
