Connecticut College Music Department presents seven December concerts

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Connecticut College Music Department will present seven concerts in the month of December. All concerts will be held in the college´s Evans Hall, Cummings Arts Center, and are free and open to the public (unless otherwise noted). For tickets and information, call (860) 439-2720.

Concerts include:

- Dec. 3, 6:30 p.m., "Charles Shackford Memorial Student Composer´s Concert." Art Kreiger, Connecticut College associate professor of music, will direct.

- Dec. 4, 4 p.m., Student Recital.

- Dec. 4, 7 p.m., Student Guitar Ensemble. James McNeish, Connecticut College adjunct assistant professor of music and recording engineer, will direct. *Note different location: The concert will be held in Harkness Chapel.

- Dec. 5, 4 p.m., Student Recital.

- Dec. 7, 8 p.m., U.S. Coast Guard Academy Band and Connecticut College Concert Bands will perform. Gary Buttery, Connecticut College adjunct instructor of music, and Kirk Edwards, U.S. Coast Guard Academy CWO, will direct.

- Dec. 10, 7 p.m., Connecticut College Jazz Ensemble Concert. Gary Buttery, Connecticut College adjunct instructor of music, will direct. Tickets are $5 for general admission, $3 for students and seniors.

- Dec. 13, 7 p.m., Connecticut College Percussion Ensemble and New Music Ensemble concert. Peter Jarvis, instructor of music, will direct.
