NEW LONDON, Conn. --Connecticut College sophomore Greg Genco of Hauppauge, New York has been named to the All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men´s soccer team. Genco was the only underclassmen to garner All-Conference accolades, earning second team honors for the Camels.

Genco played a key role in a late season surge for the Camels. The team went 1-0-2 in the final three conference matches of the regular season and reached the NESCAC post-season championship tournament for the first time in seven years.

Head coach Bill Lessig was impressed with his sophomore´s composure and clutch play under pressure in the midfield.

"Greg may be small in stature but he has a big heart and carries an expansive and passionate commitment to the great game of soccer," Lessig stated. "His experience at high levels of the game has allowed me to make changes in our attacking scheme that eventually came to fruition in the later part of the season when we went unbeaten in the last three regular season games to vault into the conference championship tournament."

Genco is the first Camel men´s soccer play to earn All-NESCAC honors since 2002. In that season, P.J. Dee ´03 and Jon Knights ´05 were each named to the first team for Connecticut College.
