On Friday, Nov. 2, the fourth-ranked Connecticut College women´s volleyball team will continue its quest for a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship, taking on fifth-ranked Wesleyan University in a quarterfinal match-up.

The 7-3 Camels are among the three Connecticut College teams that have qualified for NESCAC Championship tournaments this fall.

Both men´s and women´s soccer qualified for their respective tournaments on the final day of the season. On Oct. 27, the men´s soccer team overcame a 1-0 deficit with just 11 seconds left in regulation against Tufts and went on to pull out the overtime victory, reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2000.

If the volleyball team is victorious Friday night, it will play in a semi-final against either top-ranked Amherst or No. 8 Bowdoin at 1 p.m. Saturday. The conference final is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.

Head coach Josh Edmed, who has led the Camels to a 55-22 record over the past three seasons, is looking forward to Friday night´s contest.

"We are very excited about our chances this weekend," Edmed said. "There is a lot of parity in the field this year and anyone can beat anyone at the championship. Knowing this, we will have to be on top of our game as we face a very strong opponent in Wesleyan in the quarterfinals."

Edmed added, "We have had some great battles with them over the past few years and I expect it to be the same tomorrow night. The girls are feeling very confident and have been working very hard to prepare for this weekend."
