MEDFORD, Mass.-- The Tufts University women´s soccer (12-3) team erupted with three goals in the opening 25:07 of play and went on to defeat Connecticut College 6-0 in a first round match-up of the 2007 NESCAC Women´s Soccer Championship Tournament played at Kraft Field. Cara Cadigan contributed two goals and Ali Maxwell had a goal and an assist for the second seeded Jumbos, who will meet #4 Bowdoin in a semifinal at Williams College Saturday.

Cadigan put the hosts on the board in the 12th minute of action, receiving a cross from Sarah Nolet and chesting into the net for the Jumbos. In the 21st minute, Lauren Fedore tipped in a shot at the right post, redirecting a ball played in by Rebecca Abbott into the net. Joelle Emery made it a 3-0 game with a score in the 26th minute. In the 36th minute, Connecticut College senior Jackie Wade chipped a high arching shot from about 30 yards out that sailed just over the cross-bar.

In the opening minute of the second half, Danielle Plourde made a nice move toward the goal and fired off a shot from outside the 18 that was saved by Kate Minnehan. But in the 54th minute, the Jumbos notched their fourth score of the game. Fanna Gamal collected a rebound of a Rebecca Abbott shot and put it back in for the goal.

The Jumbos added two more scores to complete the 6-0 victory. Sophomore Jenna Ross had five saves for the Camels. Bailey Andrews finished with two saves in relief duty. Sophomore keeper Kate Minnehan had two saves en route to the shutout for the Jumbos.

The Camels complete the 2007 season with a 5-9-1 record. The team made a noticeable four-point jump in the conference standings, qualifying for the post-season tournament for the first time in three years.
