Camels-Jumbos Will Play Sunday at Tufts in First Round of NESCAC Playoffs

Claire Linden ´08 and the Camels Will Visit Tufts University Sunday for a First Round Game in the 2007 NESCAC Women´s Soccer Championship Tournament-Kick-Off is at 12:00 p.m.

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Tufts University (11-3, 7-2) defeated Connecticut College (5-8-1) 3-2 in the regular season finale for both clubs on Harkness Green Saturday. The Jumbos locked up the #2 seed in the 2007 NESCAC Championship Tournament and will host #7 Connecticut College for a noon-time match up in Medford Sunday. Cara Cadigan (Nahant, Mass.) tallied a goal and an assist for the Jumbos. Claire Linden (Bethesda, Md.) and Jackie Wade (Medfield, Mass.) contributed scores for the hosts.

The Jumbos carried a 2-1 lead into the half. In the second stanza, the visitors got an insurance goal in the 56th minute of play. Cadigan collected her own rebound off the post and put it in to make it a 3-1 score. With exactly nine minutes on the clock, Jackie Wade countered with a score that cut the lead to one. But the Jumbos were able to hold on for the victory.

Sophomore keeper Kate Minnehan (Hopkinton, N.H.) had five saves for the Jumbos. Sophomore Bailey Andrews (Pembroke, Mass.) had four saves and Jenna Ross (Longmeadow, Mass.) added seven stops in relief duty.

Jackie Wade leads the Camels with five goals and 12 points. Cara Cadigan has 14 goals, five assists and 33 points for Tufts. In their last post-season appearance in 2004, the Camels made history by defeating Amherst College, becoming the first #7 seed to defeat a #2.
