October 06, 2006

For Immediate Release Contact: Kathy Dame, Connecticut College Arboretum (860-439-5060)

Registration is still open for the free "Pumpkin Circle" storytelling and craft gathering for children at the Connecticut College Arboretum on Saturday, October 21st, from 11a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Join the Arboretum staff for an hour and a half of fun at Buck Lodge located in the Native Plant Collection of the Arboretum. Children can enjoy a brief walk in the collection collecting their favorite leaves and acorns and then go back to Buck Lodge where they will be able to reflect on the wonders of nature they´ve seen through storytelling and crafts, and design their own jack-o-lantern from what they have found in the arboretum.

The "Pumpkin Circle" will be hosted by Kathy Dame, Arboretum assistant director, and Caroline Driscoll, horticultural helper coordinator. The free session is appropriate for ages 4 and up. Parents may either join the circle inside the lodge or continue a foliage walk in the Arboretum.

Registration is required. For directions and location information or to register, call 860-439-5060.
