New London - The Connecticut College Arboretum is taking registrations for "The Journey of a Potato," a children´s workshop being held on Saturday, July 15, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the F. W. Olin Science Center Lounge. The workshop will be conducted by Noelle O´Connor, an art historian.
Children are often surprised to learn how many of their favorite plants and flowers came from faraway places. Some plants and flowers seen on a regular basis today did not originate in the United States. These new species made long journeys over land and sea to Europe and to the United Sates to grace gardens and dinner tables. Children are invited to come for a fun adventure which begins with a story, continues with a mystery, and ends with an art project for children to create and take home.
The cost is $9 for the general public, and registration is required. Call 860-439-5060 to register or for further information. Parents may accompany their children.
