Connecticut College 85, Mitchell College 53 Katy Serafin Pours in Game-High 22 Points on 10-for-15 Shooting

Katy Serafin Poured in 22 Points on 10-for-15 Shooting from the field Tuesday

New London, Conn.--Katy Serafin (Carmel, N.Y.) poured in a game-high 22 points and ripped down eight rebounds, leading Connecticut College (4-3) to an 85-53 victory over Mitchell College (1-8) at Luce Fieldhouse Tuesday night. Serafin shot 67% (10-for-15) from the field, and was 6-for-8 in the opening half. Sophomore Devon Kearns (Glastonbury, Conn.) chipped in with 18 points, five steals and two assists for the hosts.

Kate Kenly (Boxford, Mass.) canned four triples for 12 Camel points. Lindsay Michel (West Haven, Conn.) netted nine points and hauled in 10 rebounds, adding seven assists and three steals for the winning side. Sophomore point-guard Maegan Hoover (Newton, Mass.) dished out 11 assists for CC. Dena Weinstein (Mendham, N.J.) contributed nine points for the Camels off the bench.

Freshman center Ashley Hansen (Clinton, Conn.) dumped in 15 points and grabbed five boards in the low post for Mitchell. Colleen Seymour (Old Saybrook, Conn.) chipped in with 14 points for the Pequots. Gina Derosier (Brooklyn, Conn.) dished out a game-high 11 assists for the visitors.

Serafin had 14 of her 22 points in the first stanza, vaulting the Camels out to a 32-20 lead at the break. Mitchell closed the lead to seven, 37-30 on a three from Colleen Seymour with 17:20 to play. But the Camels put the game away with a devastating 21-to-6 run over the next 6:07 to build a comfortable 58-36 lead. Devon Kearns drained eight of her 18 points during the spurt and the hosts did not look back.

Freshman Lisa Gomez (San Antonio, Tex.) contributed seven points off the bench in the second half. Carolyn Pride (New York, N.Y.) finished with six points and four blocks for CC.

The Camels will visit Rhode Island College in Providence for a 5:30 p.m. game Thursday night.
