Wesleyan Invitational - Emma Tang and Aaron Wheeler Set School Records for Camels

Middletown , Conn. --The Connecticut College Track and Field program traveled across the Nutmeg State to compete at the Wesleyan University Invitational Saturday afternoon. Team scores were not kept but several notable performances along with two school records were recorded.

Freshman Emma Tang set a school record and with a winning height of nine feet and one inch in the pole vault. The Camels also excelled in other field events. Senior captain Rachel Lamson won the triple-jump event with a leap of 31 feet and 11.25 inches. Sophomore Alyse LaLiberte took second in the hammer-throw with a distance of 40.53 meters.

Freshman Amanda Monnye swept the 100 and 200 meter dash, winning with respective times of 13.12 and 27.36 seconds. Senior Meredith Stebbins finished second in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:54.96. Junior Chloe O'Connell was second with a time of 10:41.97 in the 3,000 meters distance. In the 5k, the Camels placed the top three finishers. Heather Stanish won the event with a time of 18:49.89 and was followed by Lindsey Rothe (19:21.20) and Alissa Wantman (19:28.72). Stanish's time qualified for the ECAC and New England Division III Championship.

In relay events, freshman Chris ty Rosen, Amanda Monnye, Rachel Lamson and Molly Sease teamed up for a winning time of 52.26 seconds in the 4x100 meter distance. In the 4x400 meter relay, Meredith Stebbins, Emily Ricketson, Brenna Muller and Caitlin Connors recorded a time of 4:26.02 en route to a fourth place finish.

Freshman Aaron Wheeler showed little rust in his return to competition for the Camels, setting a new school record with a third place time of 9:09.86 in the 3000 meter distance. Freshman Basile Beaty won the 400 meter dash for the Camels, posting a time of 50.78 seconds. In the 3,000 meter steeple chase, senior captain Andrew Russell cruised to victory with a time of 10:21.23. Sophomore Andrew McCullough finished third in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:59.52 for the Camels.

The Camel men had a successful afternoon in relay event competition. In the 4x400 meter relay, freshman Basil Beaty, Andrew Russell, Baylin Coddington and Andrew McCullough posted a winning time of 3:31.19. In the 4x800 meter relay, junior Brian Adams, Luca DiGregorio, Brendan Curran and Jason Fitzgerald finished second for the Camels with a time of 8:34.48. In the 4x100 meter relay, the foursome of Ted Hubert, Basile Beaty, Keith Stocks and Jeff Trosch finished fourth with a time of 44.82 seconds. Results
