Alumna director of "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" Oct. 1

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Documentary creator Judy Irving, a 1968 graduate of Connecticut College and director of "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill," will discuss the film and answer questions on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 2:30 p.m. in Room 014 of the Olin Science Center. This event is free and open to the public.

"The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" is a documentary film of a homeless street musician in San Francisco and his remarkable relationship with a flock of wild red-and-green parrots. In addition, the film will be shown on campus on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 30 at 7:45 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. and 10 p.m., in Room 014 of the Olin Science Center.  The film viewing is free and open to the public.

Irving worked on the "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" for four years. The film was recently featured in the New London Film Festival at the Garde Arts Center, and has been shown locally in Providence and Madison, Conn.

Her previous films have earned numerous awards and honors including two Emmy's and a Grand Prize for nonfiction as Sundance Film Festival.

This event is part of Connecticut College's Fall Weekend Sept. 29 - Oct. 2. Connecticut College is located at 270 Mohegan Ave., New London.
