The College seal illustrates the words of the College motto:

Tanquam lignum quod plantatum est secus decursus aquarum.

This Latin phrase translates to: "Like a tree planted by rivers of water (that bringeth forth its fruit in its season.)" The phrase is from the First Psalm, a translation from the King James Version of the Bible.

The words of the motto encircle an elm tree which draws life from the water, an image that suggests the College's location on the banks of the Thames River. Two open books decorate the outer edge of the seal, which displays the founding date of the College, 1911.
